Kodak Melbourne Memories - Michael & Lucy Mikedis, 1964-1977 & 1964-1973

This 4:58 minute digital story tells the story of Michael and Lucy Mikedis and their time working for Kodak Australasia at both the Abbotsford and Coburg factories.

Michael Mikedis began his career at the Kodak factory in Abbotsford in 1964, as a storeman supplying stocks of film processing chemicals. Michael was promoted to stock planner and later worked as an estimator organising supplies in the Coburg Distribution Centre.

Lucy Mikedis worked in customer service in the mail order department at Abbotsford until she left in 1965. She returned to Kodak in 1967 to work as secretarial support at Building 20 in Coburg. There she met Michael whom she married in 1969. Lucy left Kodak in 1973, after the birth of their second child.

Michael and Lucy Mikedis were interviewed as part of the Kodak oral history project. This digital story is an edited extract from their original 80 minute oral history interview.

The images shown are part of the Kodak collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, after the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.
