The only listing matching the details on Alfred Taylor's tokens - 31 Rundle Street, Adelaide - found to date (2005) was from the 'Royal South Australian Directory for 1854'. The following year (1855) two men named Taylor, A., were advertising their trade as drapers in the Directory, one giving his address as Hindley Street, the other giving North Terrace.

Taylor's tokens were struck for him by Heaton & Sons of Birmingham. The Museum Victoria catalogue lists 1858 as the most likely year of issue, but the information gathered during this research indicates that 1854 is more likely.

No advertisements or other supplementary information were located. Like many businesses, Taylor seems to have simply slipped through the cracks of the historical record.
