F.K. Fairthorne was a chemist, Justice of the Peace and sometime mayor of Launceston. He was named as Mayor of Launceston on a medal issued to commemorate the coronation of Edward VII in 1902 (NU 34796). In November of the same year he laid a stone at the base of the new Launceston Boer War Memorial. Fairthorne Road in Launceston may be named after him.
Fairthorne was registered as a chemist in 1871, and in 1903, as both a Justice of the Peace and Councillor of the Pharmaceutical Society of Tasmania.
