"Laurie Richards was a professional photographer working in Melbourne, Australia, during the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Initially employed as a press photographer for The Argus and The Herald, Richards established his own company in Alphington in the early 1950s. By the 1960s he employed a team of twelve photographers.

"Richards' business specialised in photography for advertising and public relations. He worked extensively for the radio, television and music industries with regular clients including the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, HSV7, Hector Crawford Productions, 3DB, 3UZ, 3AW, 3KZ and Coronet and Festival Records. While working for these clients, Richards photographed many well known celebrities, both Australian and those visiting from overseas. These photographs are an evocative record of the burgeoning Australian rock and pop scene."
