The Lawn Tennis Association of Victoria was established on 4 September 1904.

Kooyong stadium was occupied by the Association, which took possession of the site in 1920, and opened the stadium in 1927. The Lawn Tennis Association hosted international tennis contests until the opening of the sports and entertainment centre in Flinders Park, Melbourne.

Members have included community worker Mary Ranken Herring (1895-1981), Professor Loane Skene, Barrister and Solicitor, High Court of Australia and philanthropist and community worker Hilda Mabel Stevenson.

Today Tennis Victoria is the representative body of all affiliated clubs, centres, associations, regions and their members throughout Victoria.
