Noah Shreeve was, according to an advertisement he placed in the 1864 Adelaide Almanac, a 'Commission salesman, storekeeper and importer of fancy goods,' and his address was 2 Robe Terrace, Weymouth Street. Mr. Shreeve's 1864 advertisement is one of a small number of references located to him or his business.

The earliest mention of Shreeve found in this survey was from 1862, when his name was listed in the Adelaide Almanac, at the address given above. Although no additional advertisements have been found, and he did not have his name included in every edition of the Almanac, it seems that Shreeve kept this address until 1868 or 1869. In 1870 he ventured into the city and had his business listed at 129 Rundle Street. The following year he had returned to 2 Robe Terrace.

Shreeve was also the author of a 46 page pamphlet 'A short history of South Australia'. The Mortlock Library (Adelaide) holds a copy, and the catalogue records indicate that it was published at the expense of the author, in London, in 1864.

Neither the year that Shreeve issued his tokens, nor the name of the maker who struck them for him, is known.
