The Red Cross Preserving Co. won a Melbourne International Exhibition silver prize medal for its entry of jam in the 'Jams and Jellies' section of the Melbourne International Exhibition, 1888 (Official Record, p.456, Jury Sections XXXI and XXXII). The company also won medals for its candied peel, tart fruits, tomatoes in tins and bottles, ketchup, pickles and marmalade. The Melbourne International Exhibition ran from 1 October 1880 to 30 April 1881.
The Official Catalogue for the Intercolonial Juvenile Industrial Exhibition, held in Melbourne from 1879 to 1880, includes a three-colour full-page advertisement for the 'celebrated "Red Cross" brand' made by the Victoria Preserving Company, Chapel Street, South Yarra. The manager of the company was listed as Marcus Robotham. The advertisement features a Christian-style cross in blue on a red shield, with purple highlights.
