Summary

Sample envelope containing the root bark of Acacia Jacquemontii (leguminosae). This was collected and prepared by T.N.Mukharji as part of his work for the Indian Botanical Gardens. It was donated to the Museum by the Indian Government, Culcutta in 1887. Acacia jacquemontii is a plant of the Thar desert (India) is an erect shrub usually 6 feet to 10 feet high, with multiple shoots coming from below ground. This thorny shrub was traditionally used by gold, silver and iron smiths as it gives intense beat while burning.
