Summary
'Welcome' information booklet on Australia for migrants, published by the Vacuum Oil Company in 1950. This booklet was given to Bretislav Lukes when he migrated to Australia following World War Two. Czechoslovakian by birth Bretislav migrated to Australia on the Goya in 1950 and was sent to Bonegilla. His compulsory employment was for Australian Iron and Steel at Port Kembla, possibly on the Snowy Hydro-electric Scheme. He then moved to Melbourne where he worked for Myer, Watson Victa and finally in the Physics Department at Swinburne Institute of Technology. Known as 'Bob' he spoke English, Czech and German and had an interest in amateur radio, he passed away in 2004.
