Certificate of Receipt of declaration of Intention to Apply for Naturalization, issued by the Department of Immigration to Bretislav Lukes on 26 October 1953. Born 12 January 1922 in Stankou in Czechoslovakia, Bretislav trained as an electrician while in an International Refugee Organisation Camp. He migrated to Australia on the Goya in 1950 and was sent to Bonegilla. His compulsory employment was for Australian Iron and Steel at Port Kembla, possibly on the Snowy Hydro-electric Scheme. He then moved to Melbourne where he worked for Myer as a TV repair man, at Watson Victa making x-ray machines and finally as a technician in the Physics Department at Swinburne Institute of Technology.
