Summary
Banner with the slogan 'Where is Nader? Stop Deportation' it was made by the Refugee Action Collective in 2002 for use at a rally where the deportation of Iranian asylum seeker Nader Sayadi was a particular issue.
The Refugee Action Collective has grown out of a national grassroots protest movement in response to the treatment of refugees and mandatory detention. First established in 2000, it gained momentum during the Tampa crisis in August 2001. Banners such as this one were designed and painted at Trades Hall and all go through several approval processes.
Physical Description
Cream soft linen banner with red a black painted slogan 'where is Nader? STOP DEPORTATIONS. REFUGEE ACTION COLLECTIVE. www'rac.vic.org' , bordered by two strips of razor wire and image of Australia with man and child behind razor wire. Both sides stapled sleeve for threading through carry poles.
