Summary

Placard with the slogan 'Spare Rooms for Refugees' which was designed by Kate Durham. The placard was used at a rally in Canberra which was held to coincide with the opening of Federal Parliament on 12 February 2002. In 2001 Kate Durham and her husband Julian Burnside set up Spare Rooms for Refugees and Spare Lawyers for Refugees, programs which provide free accommodation and legal representation for refugees in Australia. This placard was probably used by members of the Refugee Action Collective.
