Summary

Card index, audio cassettes, manual and index folder from the Multicultural Folklore for Children project, which consists of field recordings of adults singing and reciting folklore for children in Arabic, Dutch, Greek, English, Italian, Macedonian, Pitjantjatjara, Serbian/Croatian, Slovenian, Spanish and Turkish. Collected by Gwenda Davey, primarily in 1976 and 1977, and published in 1979.

Master casette tapes x 24; language casette tapes with printed labels x 24; edited casette tapes x 22. In addition, 86 duplicates, some multiples of the same tape. Audited 22/2/2016.

(Previous count: contains 2 x 90-minute audio cassette tapes, 38 x 60-minute cassette tapes and 26 x 30-minute cassette tapes.)

2/1/2: Forty (40) audio cassettes containing original field recordings of adults singing and reciting rhymes, songs, lullabies, finger plays, stories, baby plays, etc. in English and the following languages: Arabic, Dutch, Greek, Italian, Macedonian, Serbian/Croatian, Slovenian, Spanish, Turkish. There are also two cassettes of Pitjantjatjara songs and stories. Collected by Gwenda Davey and Norm O'Connor, mainly in 1976 and 1977. Also contains loose-leaf folder with written Index of tapes. Tapes which have been copied by the National Library, Canberra, for its Tape Recording Collection are labelled with a TRC number.
2/1/3-2/1/5: Three boxes containing original master tapes of edited material for the Multicultural Cassette Series. The tapes are identified by a red circular sticker. The Multicultural Cassette Series is a set of 26 cassettes, containing selected and edited material from the original field recordings in the following languages: Arabic (2), English (2), Greek (4), Italian (4), Macedonian (2), Serbian/Croatian (4), Spanish (4), Turkish (4).(Missing tapes: Serbian/Croatian (4))
2/1/6-2/1/8: Three boxes marked 'A.V. Masters', 'Box 1, 2, 3', containing master tapes used in the production of the Multicultural Cassette Series. (The four Greek tapes are Master tapes from another set.)
2/1/9-2/1/11: Complete labelled set of the Multicultural Cassette Series. 26 cassettes containing baby play, ball bouncing, circle games & rhymes, clapping, counting, counting-out, finger-plays, games, lullabies, music, rhymes & poems, riddles, songs & stories in the following languages: Arabic, English, Greek, Italian, Macedonian, Serbian/Croatian, Spanish, Turkish.
2/1/12: The manual which accompanies the Multicultural Cassette Series, providing English translations for the contents of the audio tapes and advice on their use.
