Summary
The 6SQ7 (GT) is used as the signal detector, automatic volume control (AVC) rectifier and first audio amplifier in radio receivers. It was introduced in 1938 but did not appear in Australian radios until the post-war years. It was very widely used up to the early 1950s when it was replaced by miniature types with similar characteristics.
