Summary
Image depicting a Yaghan canoe, with unnamed Yaghan woman and children seated within. The glass plate was most probably purchased by Australian Anthropologist Sir Walter Baldwin Spencer while in Punta Arena [Magallanes] in 1929. The image was taken by C. Veiga, a famous local photographer whose studio in Magallanes and images are well-known in the region.
Physical Description
Full size with one small piece missing from corner of plate, and some silvering of emulsion. There is a narrow stain or watermark along one edge. Depicting family group in a canoe, Chile.
