Photograph of forest at Rio Douglas on Navarino Island looking across to Ponsonby Sound in May 1929. The photographer, Australian Anthropologist Sir Walter Baldwin Spencer was undertaking research into the culture and language of the Yaghan people of Chile during what became his last expedition. He died only a few months after this was taken, on Hoste Island. [Duplicate at XP 8525]
