Summary

Postcard, depicting a Chilean view under snow, captioned 'Magallanes' on the reverse in Baldwin Spencer's handwriting and dated April 24th,1929. Highly likely the postcard was purchased by Australian Anthropologist Sir Walter Baldwin Spencer and his field assistant and secretary, Jean Hamilton while they were in Magallanes [Punta Arenas]. The photographer's imprint states: "Martinez and Franciscovic Fotografia Casill Punta Arenas" Thomas Franciscovic was a photographer based in Punta Arenas and was a successor of Candido Veiga, another well-known local photographer and studio owner, who passed away in 1928.
