Oral history with Mai Ho, a Vietnamese refugee who arrived in Australia in 1981.

Mai was born in Saigon, Vietnam in 1960. She married at sixteen and had two daughters, Tan and Min. She escaped from Vietnam in a boat in 1981 with her daughters and other family members. She spent time in a Malaysian refugee camp, before migrating to Australia with her family in December 1982. She settled in Footscray where she raised her daughters, completed several tertiary qualifications and successfully runs a business. She has been involved in work with the Vietnamese community and in local politics, including a period as the Mayor of Footscray City.
