During World War II, Tattersall's ran a series of lotteries to raise funds for war-related causes. By February 1945 the Mercury in Hobart reported that 'By the end of this week war service funds of Tattersalls will have amounted to £100,000. The money has been paid to the Federal executive of the RSL, by whom it has been distributed to the Red Cross, the Australian Comforts Fund, and other war funds throughout the Commonwealth, from Hobart to New Guinea, and from Syd- ney to Perth. The New Zealand Re fumed Soldiers' League also has had its share.' (February 23 1945)

Physical Description

Orange paper lottery ticket printed in black ink. Thr front features the details of the draw. In the upper right corner is an image of three servicemen standing to attention with the face of a woman behind. In the lower left corner is a photograph of George Adams. The ticket is signed in the centre in blue ink. On the reverse is a space for the ticket holder to write their name and address, with the conditions beside.
