Summary
Poster advertising the 50th Australian Latvian Arts Festival (Australijas latviesu 50. Kulturas dienas), which was held in Melbourne from 26-31 December 2004. The festival brought together performers and audience members from across the continent for five days of music, dance, theatre and exhibitions in Melbourne in December 2004. Events geared for different age groups were a feature of the festival, which combined traditional and modern forms of cultural expression.
This poster documents this event and demonstrates the continuity of cultural maintenance and celebration which, for Latvian Australians, dates back to the immediate post World War II era. Second generation Latvian weaver Anita Apinis-Herman was actively involved in co-ordinating this event.
