Summary
Unofficial medal created by the French National Assiciation of Veterans of the fortified Sector of Flanders and Dunkirk to be made available to veterans of the Dunkirk evacuation 29 May to 3 June 1940. The issue of the medals, in 1960, was administered by the 'Dunkirk Veterans Association'.
Obverse Description
A shield bearing the Arms of Dunkirk (lion passant above dolphin) set within a wreath and upon an anchor (the top of which forms the loop for ribbon attachment); above is a pair of crossed swords.
Reverse Description
At the centre within a laurel wreath, an oil lamp burning; below, DUNKERQUE 1940; above, a pair of crossed swords.
