A round silver medal (36 mm diameter) with ring mount and ribbon. The obverse features a crowned head of George VI, facing left; around, GEORGIVS VI D:G: BR: OMN: REX ET INDIAE IMP:; the artist's initials P.M. (Percy Metcalf) are below the neck. The reverse depicts St George on horseback slaying the dragon on the coast of England; around, THE GEORGE MEDAL. The edge is engraved: LIEUT. KEITH S. UPTON. E.A.N.V.R
