Summary

Belgium War Service Medal 1914-18.
The award is an unusual triangular shape with rounded sides. It has a red, yellow and black striped ribbon.
The name is normally given as 'The Commemorative Medal of the War 1914-1918' but it was awarded to Belgian civilians who served in the ranks of the Belgian armed forces during World War I. It is a medal commemorating their war service, not the war itself. This medal was instituted on 21 July 1919.
