Defence Cross issued by Greece in 1916. It is also known as the Military Medal.
The medal was established by the National Defence Government on 28 October 1916.

Obverse Description

Phoenix in the centre of a cross pattee over two crossed swords framed by a laurel wreath. Inscription on cross arms in ancient Greek translates to: 'Defend the Fatherland'.

Reverse Description

Text 'HELLAS' (translates to Greece) and the date '1916-1917'.
