Summary
Statuette of Superb Lyrebird, Menura novaehollandiae, presented to the Museum on 28 April 1988 by Royal Doulton on the occasion of the visit of HRH Queen Elizabeth II to the Museum. The original common and scientific names used by artist were Superb Lyrebird, Menura novaehollandiae.
The plaque on the statue reads: 'Presented by Royal Doulton to the State Collection on the occassion of the visit by H.M. The Queen to the Museum of Victoria on 28th April, 1988.' Followed by a smaller inscription below reading: 'Jo Ledger, Design Director of Royal Doulton Limited, used Australian wood with English ceramics and crystal, to create this Bicentennal tribute to the Australian Nation.'
