Summary

Image taken at the 1999 Warragul Women on Farms Gathering. This image depicts the closing ceremony, whereby women released balloons into the air to commemorate the 10th Annual Victorian Women on Farms Gathering.

Being the 10th Anniversary of the Victorian Women on Farms Gatherings, this Gathering was a landmark event. In celebration of a decade of achievement, it was held once again in Warragul, the site of the inaugural Gathering in 1990. To assist with celebrations a special 10th Anniversary cake was made and an anniversary quilt was displayed for the duration of the Gathering.
Part of Museums Victoria's Invisible Farmer Project Collection. The Invisible Farmer Project was the largest ever study of Australian women on the land, uncovering the histories and stories of Australian women in agriculture. It began as a pilot project (2015-2016) and evolved into a three year (2017-2020) nation-wide partnership between rural communities, academic, government and cultural organisations, funded by the Australian Research Council.
