Summary

Photograph taken at the 2004 Horsham Women on Farms Gathering depicting the Friday night meal. This meal was served finger-food style as participants mingled in the Town Hall area.Tables were set up in the main hall to allow for mugs, books and bags as well as for consuming food. Initially participants preferred to stand and mix during this meal time but gradually they moved into to the main hall area to sit at prepared tables. During this dinner the official welcome was made by Horsham Rural City Mayor Councillor Bernie Dunn accompanied by his wife Dot.This was followed by the Keynote speaker Mary Gillett (Member for Taneit and Parliamentary Secretary for Women), who spoke on her career path working mainly in male dominated work places. Later, local speaker Susan Jackson told of creating, publishing and marketing her own children's farm books in the St Arnaud area. Finally, local band 'Squashed Frogs' provided unique forms of singing accompanied by guitars, bagpipes and fiddles. Most importantly the evening provided the opportunity to renew acquaintances, make new friends and share experiences.
