Summary
Foldout leaflet issued by Orient Line in May 1954. It details all the Orient Line sailings to and from England-Australia for 1954-55. On the back is a table of Orient Line voyages from Australia to New Zealand, United States of America and Canada, a list of branch offices and agencies and a list of Orient Line Fleet.
It was used by Percival Alfred (Pat) Thomas. Pat migrated to Australia in 1955, on the Orient Line ship SS Orontes. During the voyage he struck up a friendship with Amy McCloskey, who was returning home from a year's working holiday in England, the pair had dinner together every night on the voyage. Most of the immigrants on the voyage were put in the bottom half of the ship but Pat was on E Deck like Amy because he had paid his own fare. In Melbourne Pat left the ship, to stay with a cousin, and Amy returned home to Sydney, they corresponded and Pat visited Amy in Sydney. They were married in 1958 and lived in Noble Park. They had two children and often returned to England by ship for holidays.
