Summary
Poster promoting Aboriginal culture produced as part of Victoria's sesquicentenary celebrations. Printed text reads: 'Group of Wurundjeri and Taungurong tribesmen and designed to show the traditional oppossum skin cloak worn in Victoria, and the instruments common to the Victorian tribes. The blankets gradually replaced the skin cloaks. A posed photograph taken around 1870. Victoria 150. Growing together 1984-85'. The depicted photograph was taken by French photographer and journalist Antoine Fauchery in circa1858, not 1870 as stated on the poster. Taungurong and Woiwurrung, of which the Wurundjeri are a clan, are two of the five Aboriginal language groups which form the Kulin Nation, the traditional owners of Central Victoria.
