Summary

Letter written in French from Fazlollah Nabil of Iran, to Monica Aron (later Gates), in reply to her request for a doll in the national costume of Iran, dated 22 February 1964. The letter states that Monica's letter has been well received by her Majesty, Farah Pahlavi, Empress of Iran, and that she thanks Monica for her kind thoughts and wishes her happiness and good health. A note at the bottom of the letter states that the Persian doll 'a Bakhtiari woman' Monica requested is being sent separately.

The Gates collection contains 170 national dolls from 74 different countries and some correspondence relating to the acquisition of several of the dolls. The costumes of the dolls represent national costumes from the 19th Century to the 1990s. Monica Gates collected or was given these dolls between 1957 and 1990.
