Summary
This photograph is taken in an Aboriginal camp around the turn of the twentieth century. On the reverse is stamped "A ATKINSON/ PHOTOGRAPHER CAIRNS". The bicornual basket in the shelter to the right indicates it was taken around the rainforest region of northeast Queensland. Objects in the collection from the photographer Alfred Atkinson mostly come from the area of Atherton on the Tableland or around Cairns. This man in the centre could be the same young man demonstrating boomerang throwing in another Atkinson photograph in the collection (see XP15766).
Physical Description
