Within a curved framework with floral endings either side of the denomination, a grey-crowned crane (also described as an East African crowned crane) facing left with, tall pointed mountains in the background; around above, BANK OF UGANDA; below in three lines, TWO / SHILLINGS / 1966

Significance
For the mountains see the shilling issues for East Africa which have a lion instead of the crane. This was the first issue of the Bank of Uganda for the Republic of Uganda.
