Summary

Alternative Name(s): Gas Mask Fitting

Two-sided leaflet describing how to put on, fit correctly, test and remove a 'civilian respirator'.

The provenance of the leaflet is unknown, but its appearance clearly suggests it dates from the World War II era. Concern about a possible Japanese invasion heightened in late 1941-early 1942. A range of activities and processes were devised in the subsequent years to provide both practical and moral support to the public. Air raid trials were held until 1943 and air raid precaution activities continued until 1944.

Physical Description

Two-sided, printed in black ink, yellowed-with-age, sheet. Creased with minor stains but all text is legible.
