Summary

A design layout for a banquet menu and cabaret program otherwise known as a draft program for the Show of Progress Banquet and Cabaret, an event organised by Massey Ferguson. The banquet and cabaret was held at the Royale Ballroom. The Show of Progress convention was held in Melbourne from 11 February-14 February 1960. The date on the draft program is 18 February 1960.

This is part of a collection of photographs, negatives, moving film, artefacts, documents and trade literature belonging to the H. V. McKay Sunshine Collection. The Australian operations of the Sunshine Harvester Works were originally founded by Hugh V. McKay in the 1890s. The McKay collection is regarded as one of the most significant industrial heritage collections in Australia. In the 1950s, it was absorbed by Canadian firm Massey-Ferguson.

Physical Description

A sheet of card folded in half to form a booklet. The front and rear cover of the menu is printed with a colour illustration of people standing amongst Massey Ferguson and Massey Harris farm machinery in a field. Text is handwritten on the front cover in white paint, and there are also smaller sheets of paper adhered to the front cover with text and graphics hand drawn in black ink. An orange sheet of paper is adhered to the inside of the menu with handwritten text in white paint and blue ink. Text and graphics appear in red paint, black ink, grey pencil and red pencil inside the menu. The back page of the menu is attached to a larger sheet of paper with adhesive tape. Handwritten text in red ink appears on the obverse of the larger sheet of paper. The menu and the larger sheet of paper are both soiled. The largest sheet also has creases and ripped edges.
