Summary

Certificate of Merit awarded to Stanley Summers of Melbourne, for the 5th Annual Kodak International Salon of Photography held in London, England in November 1930.

This certificate has been signed by the Judge D Mortimer and Secretary of the Salon J M Hoffmeister, as well as representatives of Kodak work based camera clubs based in Rochester, USA; London and Harrow, England; and Sydney and Melbourne, Australia. The Australian signatories were JJ Rouse (President) and FCH (Fred) Manning (Chairman, Exhibition Committee) of the Kodak Staff Photographic Society in Sydney, and Edgar Rouse (President) and John Sutherland (Chairman, Exhibition Committee) of the Kodak Works Camera Club in Melbourne.

Kodak manufactured and distributed a wide range of photographic products to Australasia, such as film, paper, chemicals, cameras and miscellaneous equipment. Its client base included amateur and professional photographers, as well as specialist medical and graphic art professionals who used photography, x-ray and other imaging techniques.

This photograph is part of the Kodak collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.
