Summary

A promotional brochure produced by Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd in the lead up to Christmas, 1982, promoting Disc cameras for sale in Kodak Shops around the country. The sale is presented as a celebration of 'the introduction of disc photography' and includes Disc cameras and film as well as current model instant cameras, film processing, photo albums and camera accessories.

The cover features a woman in a parachute and jumpsuit, smiling and taking a photo with the Kodak Disc camera. This idea harks back to a much earlier Kodak advertisement of the early 1960s, where a man uses an Instamatic camera while jumping out of a plane to show how easy the camera was to use. Now, however, a woman is featured taking the photo mid-air and there is a glamorous element to the campaign launch. People were already familiar with instant cameras and film, but this new campaign needed something extra and very contemporary to speak to a contemporary, youth audience. So the woman in make-up and stylish hair has a camera in her hand and in her pocket and she's set against a decorative studio backdrop.

Part of the Kodak collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.

Kodak manufactured and distributed a wide range of photographic products to Australasia, such as film, paper, chemicals, cameras and miscellaneous equipment. Its client base included amateur and professional photographers, as well as specialist medical and graphic art professionals who used photography, x-ray and other imaging techniques.
