Summary
Colour postcard featuring illustrations of people and the Hotel Eastern Exchange in Port Said, Egypt. A message was written on the postcard in the trenches at Gallipoli, Türkiye, by Lance Corporal Percival Langford, 4th Light Horse Regiment, to Ethel, 29 September 1915. The postcard does not have a postmark. This is part of the Captain F. S. Laurie Collection.
Description of Content
In the centre, there is an illustration of the Hotel Eastern Exchange Building, surrounds and people enclosed within a white circular border, with palm trees in the background. On the left, is an illustration of a group of men, women and children sitting and standing outside a building, enclosed within a white rectangular border. On the right, there is an illustration of a man standing inside a room, enclosed within a white rectangular border.
Physical Description
A colour postcard printed on a rectangular sheet of card. There are colour illustrations and English text printed on the obverse. A decorative border, lines, text in French and Arabic is printed in green ink on the reverse. Text handwritten in English, in grey pencil also appears on the reverse. There is a vertical cut through the postcard which is held by adhesive tape on the obverse. The postcard is discoloured and soiled. The corners and edges of the postcard are worn.
