Summary
Ivory letter opener with a Stanhope (optical bijou) at the top end of the handle featuring a microphotograph of the Exhibition Building. The letter opener was a souvenir of the Melbourne Centennial International Exhibition, held at the Royal Exhibition Building from 1 August 1888 - 31 January 1889.
Physical Description
Carved ivory letter opener, broken into two pieces at narrowest point. The handle is hollow and ornately carved with circular patterns.
