Summary

Sesquicentenary of Victoria Medal, 1984-1985 minted by Brim, Melbourne. This gilt medal was awarded to all Victorian citizens born prior to 1901 and still living during the celebrations for the Sesquicentenary of Victoria in 1984-1985. It was awarded by the Premier John Cain in recognition of being an honoured citizen of Victoria. This particular medal was awarded to Sara Marguerita Williams.

Part of a collection from the estate of Sara Marguerita Angior Williams (known as Rita Williams) 1898 - 2003. The donor was a friend of Miss Williams, and collected this material when she helped clean out Miss Williams' room on her death. Sara Williams was born in Northcote in December 1898 as the youngest of five children. She obtained an Eighth Grade Merit Certificate before leaving school and working in the T&G Insurance Office. She was also a keen pianist.
