Summary
Black and white photograph of five members of the Scrimgeour, Crocker and Davies family in South Melbourne in 1939. This family all used a family wedding veil which was passed down through the one female line and worn by over 100 women over five generations.
The Limerick lace wedding veil was imported from Ireland for the wedding of Scottish migrant Janet Scrimgeour when she married Danish migrant Peter Franz Brackelmann in Bendigo in 1865. It remained in the family until it was donated to Museum Victoria.
