Keyboard console, power supply, and packaging for a Commodore 64 computer console. The Commodore 64 was one of the most well-known home computers of its era.

It was owned by an avid collector of personal computers and associated peripheral and technical data. It has been unused and is in its original packaging. The collector belonged to several computer clubs. He died unexpectedly after an illness so he made no arrangements for the disposal of his collection. Two friends were asked to dispose of the collection - it took them three days to clear it out of the house. Most items went to other collectors.

Physical Description

Light beige coloured oblong shaped console with a QWERTY style keyboard and other keys on a sloping front. A light beige coloured square shaped block with two cables, one for connection to the power supply and one to the computer console. The cardboard is multicoloured with statements about the characteristics of the computer and what peripherals are available. The cardboard sleeving is mainly blue. A two-part white polystyrene packing container. A pink polythene bag.

Significance

The Commodore 64 is one of the most famous home computers. According to the 2001 edition of Guinness book of records, the C64 was the most "prolific computing device ever manufactured". During its production run from 1982 to 1993, about 30 million units were sold.
