Summary
Colour image of a giant tree fallen in the forest of Sherbrooke in the Dandenongs of Victoria, photographed by A.J. Campbell. The two children have not been identified.
In the nineteenth century there was a general fascination for large ancient trees around the world. Many were carefully measured before being cut down for use as a construction material, however some survived to become curiosities for tourists & naturalists alike.
This glass lantern slide is one of many forming the A.J. Campbell Collection held by Museum Victoria.
