This image features the completed services gantry system located along the eastern ends of Buildings 3 and 4, and the completed multi-storey section of Building 3 save for some minor building work at the penthouse floor level (a rigged hoist can be seen at the top of picture lifting material and equipment from the ground). This special purpose built four-storey (ground to 3rd floors) plus basement and penthouse floors of Building 3, housed all of the emulsion delivery systems associated with the coating machine located in the west wing of this building.

Kodak manufactured and distributed a wide range of photographic products to Australasia, such as, film, paper, chemicals, cameras and miscellaneous equipment. Its client base included amateur and professional photographers as well as specialist medical and graphic art professionals who used photography, x-ray and other imaging techniques.

This photograph is part of the Kodak collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005 after the manufacturing plant at Coburg had closed down the year before.

Description of Content

Image features a steel trussed gantry carrying large pipes high above the street level located along the road and at the end of a multi-storey building. External fire escape stairs located in an elevator service tower are a feature of this building. A rigged hoist used for lifting materials (including a tank) from the ground can be seen at the top level.
