Black and white silver gelatin photograph looking south from the north side of Biggs Road (the main east-west road through the Coburg complex) towards the multi-storey section of Building 2, Emulsion Making, Kodak factory, Coburg, late 1959.

This is a ground level view, with earthworks in the foreground. It features the completed part of the second leg of the services gantry system located on the northern side of Biggs Road. The service gantry connection to Building 2 is pictured, as is the northern faces of the multi-storey section, and the single-storey east and west wings of this building. The multi-storey section housed all of the emulsion making systems. At this stage, all the sections of Building 2 have been completed externally, and the building is being fitted out with the relevant production facilities, internal services and office accommodation.

Kodak manufactured and distributed a wide range of photographic products to Australasia, such as, film, paper, chemicals, cameras and miscellaneous equipment. Its client base included amateur and professional photographers as well as specialist medical and graphic art professionals who used photography, x-ray and other imaging techniques.

This photograph is part of the Kodak collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005 after the manufacturing plant at Coburg had closed down the year before.
