Summary
Chinese 'Cantonese Puzzle Ball' chess set carved from ivory, consisting of 15 white pieces,13 red pieces and various incomplete fragments.
Each chess piece is constructed from a carved figure on a decorative stand which can be unscrewed and separated into components. Each decorative stand consists of a circular base, a central ornate hollow orb with a smaller carved ball inside, and an upper rosette joiner.
