Summary

Hollerith electric duplicating punch. Type 016 was produced from 1929 to 1960. The development of the duplicating machine was important as it could improve the accuracy of card production. This was useful for large card runs.

Physical Description

Key punch with electric motor fitted onto cast iron base with black japanned finish and curved legs; lid with three flanges to add strength in open position attached by three hinges on back section to cover the punch mechanism; this is probably a later addition as it is made of plain black metal sheet with chrome handle. Small micro-switch attached to the front of punch below the keys with red wire fed into the interior on right hand side adjacent to the card stack. Micro-switch made in Australia. This is also probably a later addition to modify the machine. On right hand side is a detachable chrome double H weight with screw to hold card stack. Separate black holder, on left hand side, was used to receive cards; presently detached. Side table extension could be attached to left hand side is missing. Two circular electric sockets in rear with pins. Power buttons on right hand edge Two buttons - one black/one white
