Summary
Black and white negative of George Foster with his two children, June and Brian, at the Migrant Reception Centre at the Exhibition Building. It is one of a selection of nine negatives taken from black and white photographs which document the migration and settlement experience of the Foster family when they migrated from England to Australia in 1955.
The Exhibition Building became known as the Royal Exhibition Building on 1 October 1980, when Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, conferred the title "Royal" on the Exhibition Building on the centenary of its opening for the Melbourne International Exhibition in 1880-81.
