Dr Fell's Anti-Soggy Waterproofed Toothbrush was advertised in newspapers across Australia in 1934, including the Argus, Brisbane Courier-Mail, the Adelaide Advertiser, the West Australian and the Australian Women's Weekly. The Lismore Northern Star advertised on 12 July 1934 (p.4) that it had 'JUST ARRIVED!...The most sensational toothbrush development in Centuries! The finest bristles in the world, by a special process, now actually WATERPROOF!...Soggy toothbrush is ended, so is bristle shedding!' The toothbrush was sold by chemists and 'good stores' in medium, hard and extra hard options. It cost two shillings.

In 1934 toothbrushes were still typically made of natural animal bristle, although celluliod had replaced the earlier wooden handle. The first toothbrush with synthetic (nylon) bristles was released in 1938.
