Summary

Black and white photograph of the shop front window display in Kodak Australasia Limited's retail store on Queen Street, Brisbane, circa 1915 - 1920.

The display features a large sign shaped in a sunray formation, promoting the use of Kodak photographic products during sporting events and hobbies such as sailing, shooting, tennis, football, golf, hockey, rowing and cricket. The central circular panel in the window reads 'Kindred Pastimes Take A Kodak With You'. There are two folding cameras displayed on plinths either side of this sign. Beneath the large sign are 12 mounted photographs of yachts at sea.

There is an almost identical display in another photograph in the Kodak heritage collection, but the photos of yachts have been replaced by photos of soldiers in action.

This photograph is part of the Kodak collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.

Kodak manufactured and distributed a wide range of photographic products to Australasia, such as film, paper, chemicals, cameras and miscellaneous equipment. Its client base included amateur and professional photographers, as well as specialist medical and graphic art professionals who used photography, x-ray and other imaging techniques.
