Summary

Brochure promoting the 'Blendor-Mix', a kitchen appliance made by Gulbransen, which claimed to be 'seven appliances in one!'

The Blendor-Mix could be used, with different attachments, to work as a mixer, mincer, grater, aerator, and even a hair dryer. It had a jar attachment which meant any jar could be fitted with the appliance blades, and it came in 'decorators' colours' such as jet, jade, ivory or scarlet bases and lids, with an ivory coloured goblet. The plastic parts for this appliance were made by Derwent Plastics. The brochure claims that the Blendor-mix saved time in food preparation, it allowed users to avoid arduous kitchen tasks, and saved money on food bills.

According to the brochure the Blendor-Mix was available in 240 volt AC (alternating current) and 32 volt DC (direct current) models. While 240 volt alternating-curent power supply was by the 1950s available through State Government or local council owned distribution networks in most major regional towns and metropolitan areas, in more remote regional and rural areas some homes still depended on independent electricirty supplies provided by engine-driven dynamos or wind generators with battery back up, typical operating at 32 volts direct-current.
